When the time comes to take up your garden for the winter, many people make the mistake of removing all the old plants and throwing them out. This can be a costly mistake for your soil. The soil needs to be replenished with nutrients because as plants grow, they draw from these nutrients and produce a vibrant garden. One simple way of replenishing the soil is to "churn" the plants back into the ground. The invertebrates, or worms, will compost the material that you've added and replenish your garden with the rich nutrients needed to grow strong, healthy plants.
